Junior Jumper Marks Longest Triple Jump as a Lion

Day One Recap

AUSTIN, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field team got a silver medal-winning leap from Lance Hamilton in the triple jump to highlight day two of the 96th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday at the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Complex at the University of Texas.

Hamilton's moment came in Southeastern's final event of the day, the triple jump B. Down to his third, and final, jump of regulation, Hamilton would leap himself atop the leaderboard with a leap of 15.45 meters (50'8.25"), the longest he's jumped in the triple jump competition as a Lion and earning him a chance at three more jumps. However, he would be unable to take those three jumps and would only be able to watch and see if he would stay atop the leaderboard. The gold would slip away as he was surpassed by just 0.03 meters (1.25 inches) in the sixth round, but holding on to a silver medal finish.

SLU's lone other action of the day saw Marvellous Asemota run the 100-meter dash main race where she finished in 12.12 seconds to come in 40th overall while Immaculate Danial got her first collegiate time in the 100-meter dash as she raced in the timed final, stopping the clock in 11.78 seconds to finish 27th overall.

The Lions now prepare for the final day of competition, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with the women's discus while track competition starts at 10:40 a.m. with the 4x800-meter relays. The 96th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays take place at the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Complex at the University of Texas and is aired on the Longhorn Network, which streams on ESPN+. Live results are also available through the host institution.
