BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team fell, 8-4, Tuesday to No. 7-ranked LSU at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
In a rematch of a March 6 game at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field in Hammond, Louisiana, Southeastern (17-8) took a 2-1 lead over the Tigers (20-6) in the second inning.
Ryan Brome and
Jake Haze led off the inning with back-to-back singles. A one-out single to left-center field by
TJ Salvaggio loaded the bases. Brome scored from third on an RBI groundout by
Peyton Woods and Haze scored on
Cole Stromboe's infield single.
LSU responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning, taking back the lead on a pair of home runs.
The teams locked into a scoreless struggle over the next four innings, broken up by a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh by LSU catcher Hayden Travinski. Another run in the inning extended the Southeastern deficit to 8-2.
Solo home runs by
Justin Williams in the eighth and
TJ Salvaggio in the ninth wrapped up the scoring. It was the fifth homer of the season for Williams, tying him with
Shea Thomas for the team lead. Salvaggio is now one behind the duo with four this season.
LSU reliever Justin Loer (2-0) earned the win, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings. He gave up one hit and did not walk a batter, striking out two. SLU starting pitcher
Hayden Robb (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing five runs – four earned – in 1.2 innings of work.
Brome (2-for-4) and Salvaggio (2-for-3) turned in multi-hit performances at the plate for Southeastern. Salvaggio extended his multi-hit streak to five consecutive games.

Southeastern returns to conference play this coming weekend, hosting Houston Christian in a three-game series. Games are slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Thursday's game is the Lions' Southland home opener while Saturday is another chance to play baseball bingo at the ballpark.

Single-game tickets are now on sale. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to minimize ticket lines on game days. Southeastern students are encouraged to contact the ticket office before the game to reserve theirs in advance.
General admission tickets for most games are $11 for adults and $8 for youth (ages 3-12). Southeastern students, with a university ID, and children under age 2 are admitted for free. Gameday parking is $5 per day for standard vehicles and $25 for RVs.

Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays. The ticket booth at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens exactly one hour before the scheduled first pitch.
Southeastern uses mobile ticketing as the primary method for distributing tickets purchased online. Tickets will be available via text message or email in a PDF format for fans to download on their phone or print at home. Tickets can also be downloaded to Apple Wallet.
