KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two members of the Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team earned a second set of awards for their play during the recently completed season with
Roger McFarlane and
Nick Caldwell named to the All-District 22 teams by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the NABC announced on Tuesday.
McFarlane, a junior guard from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., adds a NABC First Team All-District honor to his mantle after being named All-Southland Conference Second Team. He averages 14.8 points per game on the year while hitting 41.8% of his shots and 34.1% from three on the year while grabbing a team-high 8.6 rebounds a game on the season. He finished the year with 10 points-rebounds double-doubles, the most for Southeastern.
Caldwell, a senior guard/forward from Priairieville, La., was selected to the All-District Second Team by the NABC, which follows an All-Conference First Team nod to end the season. He finished the season as SLU's leading scorer with 15.4 points per game on 52.9% shooting and 42.3% on three-point attempts. He also led the Lions in blocks on the season, averaging 0.9 rejections a game. He also had a stretch during the season where he was named player of the week by at least one organization for three-straight weeks. In that stretch, during which he scored SLU's first 30-point game in two years, he earned two Southland Conference weekly honors, two honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, and one from the United States Basketball Writers Association.
Southeastern finished the 2023-24 season with a 15-17 overall record while their 10-8 record in the Southland Conference slotting them into fifth-place in the SLC's final standings.
