LAFAYETTE, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team member Nick Caldwell picked up a weekly award for the third-straight week, picking up a second Louisiana Player of the Week award from the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association, the LSWA announced on Tuesday.
 
Caldwell, a senior guard/forward from Prairieville, La., averaged a double-double with 26 points and 10.5 rebounds while blocking 1.5 shots per game in games against Lamar and New Orleans on the week.
 
He put up a career-high 30 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in Monday's 77-72 overtime loss to Lamar while also picking up a pair of assists, blocked two shots, and came up with a couple of steals. He hit 10 of his 20 shot attempts against the Cardinals along with four of his 11 three-point attempts.
 
Caldwell followed that up with a 22-point, nine-rebound performance in Saturday's 77-67 win over New Orleans. He hit five of his 12 shots against the Privateers while hitting two of his four attempts from above the three-point arc and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. He also rejected a UNO shot during Saturday's contest.
 
This is Caldwell's second-straight week winning the Louisiana Player of the Week award, marking the third-straight week where he's won at least one weekly honor. He won back-to-back Southland Conference Player of the Week awards the previous two weeks while adding his first LSWA weekly award as well as an Oscar Robinson National Player of the Week award to his second SLC honor last week.
 
Caldwell and the rest of the Lions (14-14, 9-6 SLC) head out on the road for their final road trip of the regular season, starting Saturday in Corpus Christi for a date with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Tip-off of Saturday's contest against the Islanders (18-10, 11-4 SLC) is set for 3:30 p.m. in the American Bank Center. The game against A&M-Corpus Christi will be live streamed on ESPN+, but a radio broadcast will not be available. Live stats will also be available at through the host institution.
