Lions Embark on Four-Game Road Trip Through Alabama

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball program opens a four-game road trip Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. non-conference contest on EPSN+ against South Alabama at Stanky Field in Mobile, Alabama.

Southeastern (2-1) heads out on the road for the first time in the 2024 season after opening up with a pair of wins at home against Tarleton State. South Alabama (4-0) swept through its own tournament to open the season, defeating North Alabama and Lamar along with picking up a pair of wins against Southern Indiana.

Fans can listen to the game broadcast in the Hammond area on 90.9 The Lion. In addition, an audio stream is available online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via the Lions Gameday Experience, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio apps. Both the TuneIn and MyTuner apps are compatible with the Apple CarPlay software available in most late-model automobiles. Search for KSLU 90.9 FM in the TuneIn app.

Senior left-hander Jackson Rodriguez (1-0) draws the starting assignment on the mound for the Lions. It will be the first of his SLU career. He will be opposed by right-hander Mitchell Heer (0-0), who will be making his season debut for South Alabama.

The Southeastern offense was led by Jude Hall (.500), Shea Thomas (.400) and Parker Coley (.308) this past weekend. Hall, Thomas and Gray Rowlett have each homered while Coley leads the team with three RBIs.

South Alabama's leading hitters are Tyler Borges (.500), Brennan Holt (.500) and Lucas Ismalli (.286). Holt and Robbie Petracci have homered while Petracci also leads the Jaguars with five runs batted in. Holt's four stolen bases are tops on the squad.

Once a fixture on the Lions schedule, the two schools have only played each other twice over the past four seasons. SLU has not played at Stanky Field since a 1-0 win over the Jaguars on March 26, 2019.

UP NEXT
Southeastern travels to Birmingham, Alabama to face UAB (2-1) in a three-game series at Young Memorial Field. The Lions and Blazers are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both the series opener and finale will be available on ESPN+ and 90.9 The Lion.
