HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team finished with a dominant 73-26 win over Spring Hill College Thursday morning in the University Center.

Bell finished shooting 67.7 percent from the field with two steals while Chamberlin shot 57.1 percent from the field this morning. Alexius Horne and Mackenzie Thomas also tied with seven points shooting over 50.0 percent from the field to help SLU secure its third win at home this season. Lexi Alexander led the team with six rebounds while Avari Berry dished out six assists.

The Lady Lions improved to a two-game winning streak after a 22-2 scoring run in the first quarter of the game and 20-0-point advantage in the third quarter over the Badgers. Southeastern dominated in the paint with a 52-2-point advantage in paint points while its bench boosted a spark throughout the entire contest adding a season-high 39 points. SLU also ruled the boards out rebounding Spring Hill 42-26 with 31 points coming from the Badgers' 23 turnovers.

Southeastern came out to a hot start 12-0 scoring run in the opening minutes of the first quarter to end 22-2. Bell continued her aggression in the paint for the Lady Lions to gain some early momentum going into the second quarter. SLU's stifling defense helped the squad set the tone of the game from tip-off as the Lady Lions limited every scoring opportunity for Spring Hill. Southeastern gained nine points off turnovers and 16 points in the paint in the first quarter alone. Spring Hill returned in the second quarter as Kellyn Hunter (five points) came alive to try and help the Badgers cut into the deficit. Spring Hill worked to claim a sliver of momentum with its best shooting percentage of 35.7 percent from the field. The Badgers fought despite their poor shooting in the first quarter and gained a break in the second quarter shooting 44.4 percent from the three-point line. Spring Hill gained a 14-12-point edge in the third quarter as Marta Duda (five points) connected on a few buckets to secure spurts of momentum. Duda finished to lead the Badgers with eight rebounds.

The Badgers' offensive struggles continued in the second half as Southeastern held Spring Hill scoreless the entire third quarter. SLU renewed its energy from the halftime break with a 20-point scoring run late in the third quarter as Southeastern had 12 points off turnovers and 10 points off fast break opportunities. The Lady Lions converted on 10 shots in the third quarter to continue compounding its lead to end the quarter with 40-point lead, 56-16.
