HAMMOND, La. The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team ends its month away from Hammond, America on Monday as the Lions complete their 10-game road trip by heading to north Louisiana to take on Grambling State.

Monday's game between Southeastern (4-6) and Grambling (2-6) will tip off at 6 p.m. on Willis Reed Court at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center. It will be televised through YouTube on the Grambling State Athletics page. Live stats will also be available through the host institution.

The Lions are looking to put an end to a two-game skid after dropping a 68-61 decision to the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns on Wednesday.
Sam Hines, Jr. scored 22 points against UL-Lafayette, 16 of which came in the second half.
Jeremy Elyzee ended that game with 11 points.

Hines, Jr.'s outburst against the Ragin' Cajuns, particularly in the second half, helped move his scoring average on the year to 14.9 points per game. His nine-for-12 shooting night against the Cajuns bumped his season-long shooting average up to 49.6 percent. He's also the team's top rebounder, grabbing 7.5 boards per game. He also serves up 2.7 assists per game.

Jakevion Buckley puts in 12.1 points per game on 45.4 percent shooting and is the team leader in assists, dishing out 4.2 dimes per contest. He hits 45.4 percent of his shots, grabs 3.1 rebounds a game, and his 1.9 steals per game leads Southeastern this season.

Elyzee moved his scoring average up to 10.2 points per game following his night in Lafayette. He's hitting a team-high 52.9 percent from the field and blocks a team-best 1.1 opposing team shots. He's also a 40 percent three-point shooter and secures 5.1 boards a contest.

Kam Burton remains the team's top three-point threat, having hit 22 long balls this season, hitting at a 39.3 percent clip from deep. He's hitting 40 percent of his shots overall on the year.

The Lions average 69.4 points per game this season while hitting 43.7 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from three-point range this season. Opposing teams score 68.1 points per game against Southeastern while hitting 41.6 percent of their shots and 28.1 percent from three on the year.

Grambling will enter Monday's game after nearly a week and a half of rest, having not played a game since Dec. 7
th, an 85-57 loss at Pepperdine. Antwan Burnett led the Tigers against the Waves, finishing with 15 points. Mikale Stevenson had 14 points and five rebounds. Chilaydrien Newton came off the bench and was a perfect four-from-four from the field, three of which were from three-point range, to finish with 11 points.

Burnett is GSU's top scorer and rebounder, averaging 14.4 points and 5.4 boards per game. He hits on 52.5 percent of his shot attempts, including 53.8 percent from beyond the arc where he has hit a team-high 14 shots.

Kintavious Dozier averages 11.1 points per game on 43.2 percent shooting while securing 5.1 boards per game. His 12 steals through eight contests leads Grambling this season.

Stevenson puts in 10.8 points per game on 42.9 percent shooting. He leads the team in assists with 4.4 dimes per game. He also gets 1.4 steals a game and grabs 3.6 rebounds.

Newton is the spark off the bench for the Tigers, scoring 8.4 points per game while hitting 61.1 percent of his shot attempts and 61.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Grambling averages 70.4 points per game while hitting 45.6 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three-point range. Tiger opponents score 72.1 points per game against GSU this season, hitting 41.9 percent from the field and hit 32.9 percent from three-point range in 2024-25.

This is the second-straight season Southeastern and Grambling will face off. The Lions knocked off the Tigers 48-47 in the University Center a season ago. GSU went on to win the SWAC Championship and picked up a win in the First Four of the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament, beating Montana State 88-81.

The game against Grambling is the first of two contests for SLU this week. After Monday's contest against the Tigers, the Lions return home on Friday for the first time since the season opener on Nov. 4
th to take on the Loyola Wolf Pack.
