Lions Continue Road Trip Monday at Louisiana-Monroe

SLU, ULM Meet for 93rd Time

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team heads to Monroe for some Monday night basketball, playing the third game of its 10-game road trip by taking on the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
 
Tip-off of Monday's game between the Lions (1-2) and Warhawks (2-3) is set for 6:30 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum and it will be televised on ESPN+ with a radio broadcast also available, thanks to the Southeastern Sports Radio Network, on 90.9 FM The Lion in the Hammond/Ponchatoula area and worldwide on LionSports.net/ListenLive or LionUpRadio.org, or you can listen to the game on smart devices through the Lions Gameday Experience app, the TuneIn Radio app, or the MyTuner Radio app. Live stats will also be available through the host institution.
 
This will be the 93rd meeting between the two clubs. The two teams were conference foes when both were in the Southland Conference.
 
Southeastern is looking to get back in the win column after dropping the first two games of the road swing. SLU was within eight points of (RV)/(RV) Mississippi State with 8:30 remaining in its last contest on Tuesday night before the Bulldogs pulled away for an 80-59 win.
 
Kam Burton had one of his best games, tying a career high with four made three-pointers in the game at MSU. He finished with a team-high 17 points, just two off of his career high of 19 points.
 
Four Lions average at least 10 points per game through the first three games of the season. Sam Hines, Jr. is the team's current top scorer at 15.3 points per game. He's hitting 51.6 percent of his shot attempts, including 66.7 percent from long distance, while grabbing 6.3 rebounds a game and dishing out 3.7 assists per game.
 
Jakevion Buckley is at 12 points per game while hitting 41 percent from the field. As the team's point guard, he leads the team with four assists a contest.
 
Jeremy Elyzee is putting in 10.7 points per game while also grabbing 6.3 rebounds per. He's hitting 46.4 percent from the field on the season.
 
After his big day against Mississippi State, Burton is at 10.3 points per game. He leads the Lions in made threes with eight on the year while hitting 38.5 percent from the field overall and 36.4 percent from deep.
 
The team's top rebounder is Brody Rowbury, who's averaging seven rebounds a contest to go with his 5.5 points per game.
 
The Lions are hitting 44.1 percent from the field as a team while hitting 36.2 percent from three on the year. SLU is averaging 74 points per game while grabbing 39.7 rebounds each time out. Opponents are averaging 71.7 points per game while hitting 41.3 percent of their shot attempts and 25.3 percent from three on the year. SLU's opponents secure 37.3 rebounds a game.
 
Much like the Lions, ULM is looking for its first win over a Division I opponent, having fallen to LSU, Tulane, and Rice while holding wins over Champion Christian and Ecclesia.
 
In its last contest, a 110-48 win over the Ecclesia Royals, five ULM players scored in double figures, led by Makai Willis who scored 18 points. Coltie Young came off the bench with 16 points while Renars Sondors had 15.
 
Jalen Bolden is the only Warhawk who's averaging more than 10 points per game on the year, scoring 12 points per game on 44.1 percent shooting with five rebounds.
 
Sondors is the team's leading rebounder at 6.6 boards per game. Tyreese Watson has the most assists on the team at 3.4 per game.
 
The Warhawks average 79 points through five games so far this season while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 31 percent from three. ULM grabs 45.4 rebounds a contest as a team. ULM opponents average 70 points per game while hitting 39.1 percent from the field and just 28.9 percent from three while grabbing 37.2 rebounds a game.
 
Following this contest, the Lions will take part in the Cancun Challenge with a game at Wyoming and then two games at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya just outside of Cancun, Mexico. Following that trip, the remainder of the 10-game road trip will be inside the state of Louisiana.
