HAMMOND, La. – Former Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball guard Marlain Veal has found a new basketball home after being drafted by the South Bay Lakers in the first round of the NBA G-League Draft on Saturday.
Veal, a New Orleans native, was drafted 23

He came to Southeastern from Helen Cox High School and spent all four seasons of his collegiate career, 2015-2019, in Hammond, America. Veal finished his four years having played the most games of any Lion up to that point and averaged 12.6 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

Other honors Veal earned while wearing the green and gold include two First Team All-Region 23 honors in Division I by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Still today, Veal holds the SLU career records for total assists, 595, and steals, 220.
Following his time at Southeastern, Veal has continued playing basketball. His career has taken him to Turkey, Israel, and China. Prior to being drafted Saturday, he was back in Turkey as a member of Igdir Basketbol.
