FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference Champion Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team picked up a couple more awards for its 2023 season, seeing Cicily Hidalgo and Hannah Brewer named to the Southland's All-Academic Second Team, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
 
Hidalgo, a junior outside hitter from Opelousas, La., maintained a 3.846 GPA in business administration while earning her third-straight All-Conference recognition on the volleyball court as she averaged 2.71 kills per set on a .254 attack percentage. This is Hidalgo's third academic honor, having been named to the SLC's Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll in 2021 and Second Team All-Academic in 2022.
 
Brewer, a junior middle hitter from Benton, Ark., held a 3.897 GPA, also in business administration, while starting all 33 matches of the SLU's 2023 season. She averaged 1.3 kills per set and was a part of 0.7 blocks per set while dropping down 0.27 service aces per set. Brewer has been twice named to the SLC Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll. This is her first Conference All-Academic Team honor.
 
The Lady Lions finished the 2023 season with a program record-tying 28 wins, which included a historic 22-match win streak, won its first Southland Conference regular season championship and followed that with a second-straight SLC Tournament title and automatic berth into the NCAA National Championship Tournament.
