So. Courtlin Baunchand rounds a corner at the Nicholls Invitational Saturday morning
THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University cross country teams started its main stretch on three meets in three weeks on Saturday, finishing the Nicholls Invitational at the Nicholls Farm on Saturday with the Lions finishing in sixth place while the Lady Lions did not register a team score.
The women's five-kilometer event started the day and Southeastern got a good showing from
Ava Pitarro who took home a top-10 finish, coming in eighth in a time of 20:07.93.
Anthonate Barsai finished in 21
st in 21:40.17 while
Shanique Masters finished right behind her in 22
nd, crossing the line in 21:46.28.
Jacqueline Thring was the final Lady Lion to cross the line, finishing 29
th in 22:51.75. With only four finishers on the day, SLU did not register a standing in the team competition.
On the men's side, a four-mile course awaited next.
Tim Anstett was SLU's top runner on the day, completing the course in 22:52.04 in 23
rd place.
Courtlin Baunchand was next to cross for the Lions, finishing in 29
th in 23:08.31.
Triston Watford came home next, stopping the clock in 23:35.53 in 37
th place.
Manny Portillo crossed the line in 40
th in 24:02.75.
Darian Chestnut was the final Lion to cross the line, finishing in 25:03.07 in 49
th place. As a team, Southeastern finished in sixth place with 154 total points.
The Lions run their second of three weekends in a row of meets next Saturday as Southeastern hosts the Lion Up Invitational. The men will run an eight-kilometer course at 8:00 a.m. with the women running a five-kilometer course at 8:30 a.m. at Covey Rise Lodge in Husser.
