Incoming Junior Led Florida College to 58-10 Record, Conference Championship, 2 NAIA Tournament Berths

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball has added another piece to the 2023-24 team as head coach David Kiefer has announced the signing of transfer point guard Anthony Bittar.

Bittar is coming off a season where he was named a First Team All-Continental Athletic Conference player for the Florida College Falcons, a NAIA institution in Temple Terrace, just outside of Tampa.

The Clearwater, Fla. native ranked 14th in the NAIA in total assists this past season with 174, doing so in 30 games which gave him a 5.8 assists per game average, 11th best in the NAIA during the 2022-23 season. When he wasn't passing to teammates, he was scoring on 50.2% of his shot attempts, including 45.6% from above the three-point arc, and averaged 11.8 points per game. He also grabbed an average of five rebounds per contest.

With Bittar running the point in 2022-23, the Falcons finished the season 27-6 overall and with an 11-1 record in the Continental Athletic Conference. The team advanced to the championship game in the postseason conference tournament and earned an at-large bid into the NAIA National Championship Tournament, advancing to the second round of the Lakeland Bracket.

The graduate of East Lake High School played two seasons at Florida College where he averaged 10 points per game on 50.3% shooting, 44.9% from three, five rebounds, and 4.9 assists while with the Falcons. He helped guide FC to the CAC regular season & tournament championships as a freshman and not just getting to the national tournament in both seasons, but also picking up a first round win both years as well.

"We are excited about Anthony and his versatility," said Kiefer. "The thing that sticks out most is his passing ability. To me, if you can pass, you can play. Anthony has been very successful and won a lot of games over the last two years at the NAIA level. We look forward to adding another unselfish piece to the puzzle."

With two seasons at the NAIA level under his belt, Bittar is immediately eligible to join the Lions and has two years of eligibility remaining.
