No. 25 Ragin' Cajuns Pull Away Late for 7-0 Win Over Lady Lions

SLU (37-10) opens six-game home stand Friday versus Nicholls

LAFAYETTE, La. – No. 25 University of Louisiana at Lafayette scored seven runs runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie on the way to a 7-0 victory over Southeastern Louisiana University in nonconference softball action Tuesday night at Lamson Park.

Southeastern (37-10) ended a nine-game road swing and finished up its regular season nonconference schedule. The Ragin' Cajuns improved to 34-12 overall with the win.

Ellie DuBois, Cera Blanchard and Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeax (8-3) combined to hold the hosts scoreless until the wheels came off for the Lady Lions in the bottom of the sixth inning.

SLU managed three hits off UL Lafayette pitchers Meghan Schorman and Kendra Lamb (6-1). Bailey Krolczyk extended her school-record hitting streak, while Lexi Johnson and Maria Detillier also each had singles for the Lady Lions.

Southeastern mounted its first threat in the top of the third inning, as Ka'Lyn Watson and Cam Goodman each reached on errors to put a pair on with no outs. However, Schorman retired the next three Lady Lions to keep the game scoreless.

The Ragin' Cajuns put the first two runners on in the bottom of the fifth to mount their best threat of the game to that point. Comeaux forced Alexa Langeliers to hit into a double play, then retired Victoria Valdez to keep the game scoreless.

The Ragin' Cajuns finally got to Southeastern pitching in the bottom of the sixth inning. After Maddie Hayden beat out an infield single, Mihyia Davis broke a scoreless tie with a two-run home run over the right centerfield fence. A couple of SLU errors allowed five more unearned runs to score and the hosts extended the lead to 7-0.

Lamb sat down Southeastern in order to close out the victory.
