LAFAYETTE, La. – No. 25 University of Louisiana at Lafayette scored seven runs runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie on the way to a 7-0 victory over Southeastern Louisiana University in nonconference softball action Tuesday night at Lamson Park.
Southeastern (37-10) ended a nine-game road swing and finished up its regular season nonconference schedule. The Ragin' Cajuns improved to 34-12 overall with the win.
Ellie DuBois,
Cera Blanchard and Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeax (8-3) combined to hold the hosts scoreless until the wheels came off for the Lady Lions in the bottom of the sixth inning.
SLU managed three hits off UL Lafayette pitchers Meghan Schorman and Kendra Lamb (6-1).
Bailey Krolczyk extended her school-record hitting streak, while
Lexi Johnson and
Maria Detillier also each had singles for the Lady Lions.
Southeastern mounted its first threat in the top of the third inning, as
Ka'Lyn Watson and
Cam Goodman each reached on errors to put a pair on with no outs. However, Schorman retired the next three Lady Lions to keep the game scoreless.
The Ragin' Cajuns put the first two runners on in the bottom of the fifth to mount their best threat of the game to that point. Comeaux forced Alexa Langeliers to hit into a double play, then retired Victoria Valdez to keep the game scoreless.
The Ragin' Cajuns finally got to Southeastern pitching in the bottom of the sixth inning. After Maddie Hayden beat out an infield single, Mihyia Davis broke a scoreless tie with a two-run home run over the right centerfield fence. A couple of SLU errors allowed five more unearned runs to score and the hosts extended the lead to 7-0.
Lamb sat down Southeastern in order to close out the victory.
Southeastern opens a six-game home stand this week, when it welcomes Nicholls for a three-game Southland Conference series at North Oak Park. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and continues Saturday at noon. The games will be televised live on ESPN+ and live stats will be available at

Gale's Fancy Faces will be at Friday's doubleheader to do face painting for young Lady Lion fans. Saturday is Senior Day and the Lady Lion senior class of
KK Ladner and
Madison Rayner will be honored in conjunction with the noon contest. Young Lion fans will have an opportunity to run the bases following Saturday's series finale and fans will have the opportunity to win prizes by playing Bingo at the Ballpark.
