HAMMOND, La. – The 23^rd Annual Southeastern Louisiana University Coaches Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off Monday, May 15 at Greystone Country Club in Denham Springs.
 
Proceeds will benefit the Touchdown Club, the Lion Athletics Association coaches club for the reigning Southland Conference champion football program. This year's event honors the memories of Leo Jones, Ken Bailey, Louis Dunigan and Frank Vendt.  
 
A member of the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame, Jones opened an eight-decade relationship with SLU that included two stints as athletic director as an All-Gulf States Conference halfback for the Lion football team from 1948-50.
 
Bailey was an All-GSC center for SLU for 1954-57 and helped Southeastern to a pair of conference titles. Dunigan was an offensive tackle for the Lions from 1964-67, while Vendt was a standout offensive guard for SLU from 1971-74.
 
The event, which consists of four-man teams, begins with a 1 p.m. start. Registration and lunch are set for 11:30 a.m. The entry fee is $150 per person or $600 per team.
