Lady Lions Extend Win Streak to Seven With 2-0 Day Two at Spring Games

SLU (17-2) hits six home runs in Saturday's wins over Central Michigan and Yale

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team extended its winning streak to seven games with a pair of victories on day two of The Spring Games Saturday at ROC Park.

Southeastern (17-2) opened the day with a 3-1 victory over Central Michigan (5-7). Later in the day, the Lady Lions rallied past Yale (3-5) for a 6-4 win.

KK Ladner (4-1) struck out eight in a complete-game two-hitter in the win over CMU. Cam Goodman and Maria Detillier each hit home runs for SLU, while Lexi Johnson added an RBI of her own.

Yale jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings, but Southeastern used the long ball to take the lead for good. The Lady Lions tied a school record with three home runs in the bottom of the second inning. It marked the second time SLU hit three homers in a frame and first time since April 13, 2013 at Lamar.

Johnson, Audrey Greely and Ka'Lyn Watson all homered in the frame. Blaire Bizette hit her first home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth inning to cap SLU's scoring output.

Cera Blanchard (8-0) continued her unbeaten debut in the circle for Southeastern, shaking off the rough early start. The Metairie, Louisiana native scattered five hits and struck out four in 6.0 innings of work. Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux threw a scoreless seventh to earn her first save of 2023.

SLU will close out play at the Spring Games Sunday, facing LIU at 10:30 a.m. Live stats, provided by LIU, will be accessible via the softball schedule page at LionSports.net. A live video stream will be available at FloSoftball.com (paid subscription required).
