Hailey Giaratano was named to the All-Academic first team after the 2022-2023 season came to an end.
Giaratano, a senior guard out of Ponchatoula, Louisiana helped lead her team to its first March Madness appearance for the first time in program history this year under head coach
Ayla Guzzardo. She was also named the Southland Conference Tournament MVP after winning the championship, 66-57, versus Lamar.
Southeastern ended the season with a 21-10 overall record and a 14-4 Southland Conference record, winning both the regular season and tournament title. Giaratano averaged 12.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. This is Giaratano's second time on the SLC All-Academic First Team.
To be eligible for all-academic distinction, an athlete must hold a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average through the semester prior to the sport's championship, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating school prior to the current season, and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Student-Athlete of the Year nominees must have held at least a 3.20 GPA and have completed at least two years of athletic competition at the nominating school, including the current season.
First Team All-Conference athletes who meet all-academic nomination criteria are automatically named all-academic.
