HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team opens Southland Conference action at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field with a series of promotions this weekend against Incarnate Word.
Games against UIW (13-12, 2-1 SLC) are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
All three Southeastern (15-10, 2-1 SLC) games will be carried on ESPN+. Live stats will be available online at www.LionSports.net and in the Lions Gameday Experience app. Fans can also receive in-game updates on Twitter by following the @LionUpBaseball account.
The first 200 Southeastern students through the gates Friday will receive a free Hammond, America baseball hat. General Admission tickets are also $5 for Friday's series opener.
Saturday is Super Lion Saturday, the spring celebration of Southeastern Athletics. The action-packed day on campus includes SLU softball facing off against Texas A&M-Commerce at 1 p.m. in Southland action at North Oak Park and the football program's Spring Showcase at 2 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
Northshore Broadcasting's radio stations will be live outside the SLU Athletics Ticket Office from 9-11 a.m. with Under the Hood on Tangi 96.5 FM and again with their Tailgate Show from 1-4 p.m. on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM WFPR.
An Easter egg hunt is scheduled following football. Food trucks will be on-site and Barn Hill Preserve returns with a collection of its exotic animals. Fans can also play Baseball Bingo at the game by picking up a card at the marketing table. The first three completed bingo cards go home as winners.
Sunday is Benny Latino Day at the ballpark. The baseball program will honor the newest recipient of its Lion for Life Award. It is also a Military Sunday with all active duty military personnel and veterans receiving free admission (must show Military ID at the ticket window).
The Lions will send right-hander
Brennan Stuprich (2-2, 4.88) to the mound in the series opener. He will match up against UIW left-hander Kayden Cassidy (1-1, 3.58).
Saturday's pitching matchup features junior right-hander
Will Kinzeler (4-0, 2.97) for SLU while the Cardinals will counter with right-hander Isaiah Zavala (3-0, 4.31).
Lion junior right-hander
Andrew Landry (2-3, 3.34) draws the Sunday starting assignment while UIW has not announced a starter for the series finale.
SLU has won three of its last four, including a conference series at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a walk-off win over Mississippi Valley State at home Wednesday.
The Lions lead the nation in HBPs (75) and rank ninth in stolen bases (69).
Southeastern's offense is led by

Shea Thomas (.294),
Tyler Finke (.293) and
Champ Artigues (.271).
Rhett Rosevear ranks third in the nation in HBPs (16) while Finke ranks third nationally in stolen bases (21).
UIW has won three of its last four, including a conference series against Houston Christian and a non-conference win Tuesday over Prairie View A&M.
The Cardinals' offense is led by Hernan Yanez (.344), Alec Carr (.330), Rey Mendoza (.330) and Jimmy DeLeon (.303). Carr has hit a team-high six home runs and Mendoza owns a team-high 31 RBIs. Daniel Calabrese paces the teams with 13 stolen bases.
Southeastern has won its last two games against UIW and leads the all-time series, 12-7. The Cardinals come to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field for the first time since the 2016 season as the last 10 games in the series have all been played in San Antonio, Texas.
UP NEXT
Southeastern travels to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a 6 p.m. game Tuesday against Southern Miss at Pete Taylor Park. The game is slated to be carried on ESPN+. It will be the second meeting between the two programs this season with the Golden Eagle claiming an 8-1 win in Hammond on March 14.

Single-game tickets are now on sale. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to minimize ticket lines on game days. Southeastern students are encouraged to contact the ticket office prior to the game to reserve theirs in advance.
General admission tickets for most games are $9 for adults and $6 for youth (ages 3-12). Southeastern students, with a university ID, and children under age 2 are admitted for free. Gameday parking is $5 per day for standard vehicles and $25 for RVs.

Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays. The ticket booth at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field opens exactly one hour prior to the scheduled first pitch.
Southeastern uses mobile ticketing as the primary method for distributing tickets purchased online. Tickets will be available via text message or email in a PDF format for fans to download on their phone or print at home. Tickets can also be downloaded to Apple Wallet.
