HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University football team will close out its five weeks of spring practice with a 2 p.m. Spring Showcase at Strawberry Stadium as part of Super Lion Saturday.
 
Two-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year Frank Scelfo would like to see the improvement  the defending SLC champion Lions have shown over the 15 practices continue and for SLU to end the spring on a high note.
 
"We've had great energy level and enthusiasm throughout the spring and we want that to continue," Scelfo commented. "We're hoping to have a lot of fans out there to not only fuel that energy and enthusiasm, but give our newcomers a taste of what playing in Strawberry Stadium is all about."
 
The Spring Showcase will be part of day-long Super Lion Saturday festivities. The day's action will open with the SLU softball team's noon contest versus Texas A&M-Commerce. Following the Spring Showcase, young Lion fans will be able to participate in a 4:30 p.m. Easter egg hunt in Strawberry Stadium. The baseball team's 6 p.m. contest versus UIW at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field wraps up the day's action.
 
The Southeastern Sports Radio Network will play a part in the day's festivities. The Under the Hood show will air from Strawberry Stadium from 9-11 a.m. on Tangi 96.5 FM. Later in the day, the Lion Up Showcase will air on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM from 1-4 p.m. from Strawberry Stadium and will feature interviews with several SLU coaches.   
 
The Lions are scheduled to open the 2023 regular season Sept. 2 at Mississippi State.
