SLU Extends Win Streak to Five with Shutout Victory at Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team extended its winning streak to five games Tuesday with a 19-0 win over Jackson State in seven innings at Robert "Bob" Braddy, Sr. Field.

Southeastern (5-0) took advantage of free passes from the Tiger pitching staff to build a big lead early against JSU (2-2), pushing across five runs in both the first and second innings.

Rhett Rosevear drew a walk to open up the game. Shea Thomas worked a one-out walk, putting a pair of runners on. Jake Killingsworth lined an RBI single to right field and Christian Garcia followed with an RBI double to left field. Connor Manola cleaned it all up with a three-run home run to left field, his first of the season.

SLU expanded the lead with three runs in the third and six more in the fourth.

Killingsworth contributed an RBI single in the second and a two-run single fourth. Manola, who was hit by a bases-loaded pitch in the second, drove in a pair with a single in the third. TJ Salvaggio added a two-run double in the fourth.

Aaron Hosack (1-0), a junior from Shidler, Oklahoma, tossed five shutout innings to earn the win in his Lion debut. The right-hander scattered two hits and one walk, striking out six – including the final four batters he faced.

Adam Guth and Hayden Robb each logged scoreless innings in relief to finish off the Lions' second shutout of the young season. Guth fanned two and Robb struck out three.

Manola and Killingsworth each contributed a career-high in RBIs with six and four, respectively.

Rhett Rosevear scored four runs after walking twice and being hit by a pitch twice. Tyler Finke, Garcia and Killingsworth scored three runs apiece.

JSU pitching walked 12 batters and hit five.

The Lion win marked career coaching victory No. 300 for SLU head coach Matt Riser. He ranks second on the program's career list behind Southeastern alum Greg Marten who has 348 career wins.
