HAMMOND, LA. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team face off against UIW at home Thursday at 5 p.m. in the University Center and the Corpus Christi Islanders at 1:00 Saturday afternoon.
Southeastern (11-8, 6-3 Southland) and UIW (11-8, 3-6 SLC) will face off in conference play for the second time this season.
Southeastern will open the week with a Thursday hoops doubleheader versus UIW. The women's game is set for 5 p.m. with the men's contest scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Natalie Kelly is Thursday's Spotlight Player of the Game and the first 150 fans at Thursday's women's game will receive a trading card featuring the Albany, Louisiana native courtesy of PRIDE.
Chrissy Brown will be Saturday's Spotlight Player of the Game. Saturday's game will also be free admission.
The Lady Lions won three of their last four games in the past two weeks with wins against Northwestern State, Texas A&M-Commerce and UNO, with their last game ending in a 59-42 loss against the Privateers in New Orleans.
Hailey Giaratano had a career game against UNO at home last Thursday evening as she sunk 24 points, 12 of those coming from three pointers.
Natalie Kelly also had a great game against NSU as she recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Cierra Cunningham would also have a great night against TAMU-C as she led the Lady Lions with 14 points.
The last time Southeastern met the Cardinals was on the road in San Antonio, Texas where the Lady Lions fell 55-49 after a defensive battle.
Giaratano led the Lady Lions with 13 points while
Chrissy Brown trailed behind with 11 and
Alexius Horne also led with 10. Brown also hit her fourth double-double of the season, leading with 12 rebounds.
UIW is coming off a win against Nicholls 70-62 after falling to McNeese 69-34 the week before. Nina De Leon Negron averages 11.5 points per game while Terrell Destiny averages 3.6 rebounds per game.
Southeastern's next opponent for this weekend is TAMU-CC (13-7, 8-1 SLC), SLU last played the Islanders in Corpus Christi where the Lady Lions won 53-46. Alecia Westbrook averages 11.9 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Southeastern will hit the road to head to Lake Charles to take on McNeese Thursday February 9 at 5 p.m. The Lady Lions will then come back home and will take on Nicholls at home Saturday February 11 at 1 p.m.
