HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University seniors
Mya Guillory and
Hanna Moffatt closed out their collegiate careers with first team selections on the 2023 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Collegiate Women's Soccer Team, which was released by the LSWA Tuesday.
With the honoring of Guillory and Moffatt, SLU was one of four state schools – along with LSU, McNeese and Xavier University of Louisiana – to place multiple student-athletes on the first team.
Guillory added her third All-Louisiana selection of her Lady Lion career to her All-Southland Conference second team nod that she received last month. Her four goals this fall came in SLC wins over UIW and Nicholls, as well against Power 5 opponents Houston and Ole Miss. The Prairieville, Louisiana native finished her time at Southeastern as a four-time All-SLC selection, as well as the 2022 Southland Midfielder and Student-Athlete of the Year.
Moffatt was named among the state's elite after a breakout season in her final campaign in the green and gold. A native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Moffatt led Southeastern with five goals, including game-winning scores in victories over HCU, Nicholls and Jackson State.
First-year program XULA took home three of the individual awards after winning the Red River Athletic Conference and advancing to the second round of the NAIA national tournament. Xavier head coach Ashley Cordeiro was named the state's Coach of the Year, while Gold Nugget junior midfielder Luci Schroeder was named Louisiana Player and Newcomer of the Year. Louisiana Tech freshman forward Kyra Taylor prevented a XULA sweep of the individual honors, by being named the Freshman of the Year.
The LSWA All-Louisiana Collegiate Women's Soccer team was voted on by the state's soccer media relations directors. Voters were not permitted to vote for their school's nominees.
