Southeastern Travels to Kansas for Two Road Tests

HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team will suit up Tuesday to start the trip with a 6 p.m. matchup against Wichita State at the Charles Koch Arena.
 
The game between Southeastern (3-3) and Wichita State (3-3) will be televised on ESPN+. Live stats can be accessed on the women's basketball schedule page at www.LionSports.net. Listen to the game on 90.9 The Lion that can also be accessed on the women's basketball schedule page.
 
SLU will continue its non-conference run against the Kansas Jayhawks (2-3) for a 12:30 p.m. game Thursday at Allen Fieldhouse. Thursday's matchup will be streamed on ESPN+ and the Big 12 Network. Southeastern fell to Jackson State 63-54 Monday morning for its fifth non-conference game of the season. Hailey Giaratano led the team with 13 points and three assists making it her fifth consecutive game in double-digit scoring. The Lady Lions moved on to defeat Mobile 75-47 Saturday afternoon led by Cheyanne Daniels with 20 points and Taylor Bell with nine rebounds. Daniels has scored over 20 points in two games so far this season.
 
SLU is seeking its first road win of the season over a power five opponent. Southeastern's defense has forced opponents to a combined 29 turnovers in the last two games.
 
Wichita State (3-3) lost to Dayton 74-63 Saturday morning. Three players from the Shockers contributed double-digit scoring led by Salese Blow with 20 points. Tre'Zure Jobe and Daniela Abies followed up with 26 points combined.
 
Kansas (2-3) was defeated 71-63 by No. 6 UConn Saturday evening. Four players for the Jayhawks finished in double-digit scoring led by Taiyanna Jackson with a double-double consisting of 16 points and 12 rebounds. Holly Kersgieter and S'Mya Nicole are the second leading scorers for Kansas along with Ryan Cobbins who impacts the boards averaging 5.2 rebounds per game.
 
Following Thursday's game, Southeastern will return back home to host South Alabama for a 6 p.m. matchup Dec. 15. Friday's game will honor sophomore Breyionce George as the Spotlight Player. Lady Lion fans, dust off those ugly sweaters and show it off. The Pride Roofing University Center is hosting a tacky Christmas sweater party when the South Alabama Jaguars come to town.
