Lady Lion Setter Averaged 11.57 Assists Per Set on Way to Another SLC Weekly Award

FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team added one last weekly award to its tally before heading to the SLC Championship Tournament as Gracie Duplechein was named the conference's Setter of the Week, the SLC office announced on Monday.

Duplechein, a junior setter from St. Amant, La., averages 11.57 assists per set as Southeastern extended its historic win streak out to 20 in a row while clinching the program's first ever SLC regular season title outright. In the two matches she also added four kills and three blocks.

In the championship-clinching win over Lamar on Thursday, Duplechein got her 10th double-double of the season as she recorded 35 assists, moving up to fifth place on the SLU career assists list, and 13 digs. She added two kills and assisted on a block in the straight-sets win over the Cardinals. She followed that up on Saturday with a 46-assist, nine-dig outing against McNeese where the Lady Lions made sure the regular season championship would be an outright one. Duplechein added two more kills and had two block assists in the four-set win over the Cowgirls. This is Duplechein's third SLC Setter of the Week award this season, having previously earned the honor on October 9th and October 23rd.

Duplechein and the rest of the SLC regular season champion Lady Lions (26-4, 17-1 SLC) will now attempt to win back-to-back Southland Conference Tournament Championships as they head to Corpus Christi for the 2023 SLC Tournament. Southeastern enters the tournament as the top seed with a double-bye straight to the semifinal round. Opening serve of SLU's Saturday semifinal match is set for 2:00 p.m. in the Dugan Wellness Center and will be against the winner of the quarterfinal match between the #4-seed Houston Christian (18-12, 13.5 SLC) and the winner of the first round match between the #5-seed Northwestern State (13-16, 9-9 SLC) and the #8-seed Texas A&M-Commerce (9-22, 5-13 SLC).

All matched in the 2023 Southland Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament will be held in the Dugan Wellness Center on the campus of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and will be live streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available through the conference.
