HAMMOND, La. – For the fourth straight season, Southeastern Louisiana University midfielder
Mya Guillory was named to the All-Southland Conference Soccer Teams, which were released by the league office on Tuesday.
Guillory was a second-team selection. The Prairieville, Louisiana native is one of two four-time All-SLC recipients on this year's team, along with Lamar defender Kaisa Juvonen.
Guillory finished the regular season second on the team with four goals scored, while tied with teammate
Hanna Moffatt for the team lead with 10 points on the year. Guillory found the net in Southland Conference wins over UIW and Nicholls, while also scoring goals in nonconference contests at Houston and Ole Miss.
The 2022 Southland Midfielder and Student-Athlete of the Year adds to a growing trophy case that features three SLC All-Academic nods and two All-Louisiana selections. In 85 matches as a Lady Lion, she has 24 goals and 19 assists – good for 67 points.
SLC regular season champion Lamar led the way with 10 selections on the All-Southland Soccer Teams. The Cardinals also dominated the superlative accolades, scooping five of the eight individual honors. Hollie Massey was named SLC Player of the Year, whilst head coach Nathan Kogut, Nicole Panis, and Arely Alaniz were all named repeat selections as Coach, Goalkeeper, and Defender of the Year respectively. Alana Clark was also tabbed as Midfielder of the Year.
Texas A&M-Commerce's Hannah Bell scooped both the Freshman and Forward of the Year accolades, whilst teammate Kaydence Ramirez was recognized as the Newcomer of the Year in the SLC.
Guillory and Southeastern will be the sixth seed in the SLC Tournament, which runs Wednesday through Sunday in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Lady Lions will face McNeese in the tournament's first game Wednesday at 1 p.m. Should Southeastern get past the Cowgirls, it will face the winner of Wednesday's first round match between Texas A&M-Commerce and HCU in Friday's semifinals at 4 p.m.
Friday's semifinal winners will face off Sunday at 1 p.m. in the championship match. The winner of the championship match will receive the SLC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Southeastern will be looking for its fifth trip to the NCAA Championships and first since the 2020 season, played in the spring of 2021.
