Southeastern's Tademy, Goodly Claim Southland Weekly Honors

SLU duo keyed 37-20 win at Northwestern State

HAMMOND, La. – After helping the reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University football team to its first win of the season, graduate defensive back Victor Tademy and freshman wide receiver Tristan Goodly received SLC Player of the Week Honors in an announcement from the league office Monday.

Tademy was named the league's Defensive Player oft the Week, while Goodly claimed SLC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after their efforts in Thursday's 37-20 conference win at Northwestern State. The duo joins sophomore defensive back Ian Conerly-Goodly (Sept. 4) and senior punter Austin Dunlap (Sept. 18, Sept. 25) as 2023 Southland weekly honorees.

Tademy shared team-high tackle honors with Conerly-Goodly and Tyrone Legette in Natchitoches, as all three were credited with 10 stops. The Arkadelphia, Arkansas native returned an interception 58 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter to give the Lions a 28-17 advantage.

Making his debut as a kick returner, Goodly averaged 32.5 yards per kickoff return versus the Demons. The Westlake, Louisiana native's 48-yard kickoff return set Southeastern up with a short field on the way to taking a 21-17 lead it would never relinquish.

Southeastern will enjoy a bye week before returning home to host McNeese Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. The game versus the Cowboys will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM). Former members of the football program that are members of the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame will be recognized at halftime of the SLU-McNeese contest.

Season and single-game tickets for the 2023 home football season, which continues with visits from McNeese and Nicholls (Nov. 16) are available online at https://vivenu.com/event/2023-football-2klkar.
