Lady Lions Host Nicholls for Senior Day in a Battle for the Crystal Cup

Southeastern will honor four seniors in the matchup against Nicholls for Senior Day.

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will return to action Sunday at Strawberry Stadium to face Nicholls in a 5 p.m. match in honor of Senior Day.
 
The game between Southeastern (5-9-1, 3-4-1) and Nicholls (1-16, 0-8) will be televised on ESPN+. Live stats can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at www.LionSports.net. Live audio broadcast will be provided on KSLU 90.9 FM at LionSports.net/ListenLive.
 
Southeastern went 1-0-1 this past weekend of the season. SLU defeated HCU with a dominant 2-1 decision at home. Sunday the Lady Lions fell in a split 1-1 decision to McNeese in Lake Charles at Cowgirl Field. Hanna Moffatt and Maggie Dennison connected on goal.
 
Moffatt led SLU in the first match against the Huskies with a pair of goals to extend the lead with the game winner. Named Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career after a striking performance. Maggie Dennison scored for the Lady Lions to close the weekend over the Cowgirls, but in the second half Alexi Pitt evened the score. Olivia Griffin handled the majority of the work in goal for Southeastern and enters Sunday's match with 54 saves.
 
Nicholls suffered two shutouts last weekend. Lauren Andre leads the Colonels with three goals this season. Megan Cook and Elizabeth Zepeda split time in net for Nicholls with 96 combined saves heading into Sunday's matchup.
 
Four seniors will be honored Sunday and welcomed as the newest members of the S Club. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the presentation. Southeastern will look to gain its third victory in the annual Battle for the Crystal Cup vs Nicholls.
 
Following Sunday's match, SLU will return on the road. The Lady Lions will travel to Beaumont, Tx., to face Lamar in a 7 p.m. match Oct. 27.
