HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will be back in action Friday, traveling to Jackson State for a 1 p.m. match in Jackson, Mississippi.
The match between the Lady Lions (0-1) and the host Lady Tigers (0-2) will be video streamed (paid JSU subscription required) on the Jackson State Sports Network. Live stats, provided by the hosts, will be accessible via the soccer schedule page at
www.LionSports.net.
Southeastern will be playing its second match away from home to start the season. SLU dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 18 Ole Miss in last Thursday's regular season opener.
The nationally-ranked Rebels jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the initial 20 minutes, but then the Lady Lions held firm for the remainder of the half. Ole Miss tacked on two second half goals to provide the final margin.
Olivia Griffin handled all of the goalkeeping duties in Oxford, finishing with five saves.
Mya Guillory attempted the lone shot for SLU in last Thursday's defeat.
Jackson State has yet to find the net in its first two matches of 2022. JSU, which is playing its first four matches of the season at home, opened the season with a 2-0 loss to North Alabama last Friday and followed that up with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Southern Utah.
Following Friday's match, Southeastern will open its home schedule on Friday, Sept. 2, hosting Southern at 7 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. The SLU-Southern contest will be televised on ESPN+.
