HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team will officially open the 2022 season at the Katrinka Crawford Invitational Friday and Saturday in Beaumont, Texas.
The Lady Lions will open tournament play with a pair of matches Friday, facing Tulane at 1 p.m. and Prairie View at 4 p.m. Southeastern closes out tournament play Saturday with a 1 p.m. match versus Idaho State. Live stats, provided by host Lamar, will be accessible on the volleyball page at

Southeastern got its first taste of competition with an exhibition match versus ULM Saturday. The Lady Lions took down the visiting Warhawks, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-21.
In the exhibition win,
Cicily Hidalgo finished with a double-double effort of 14 kills and 12 digs to lead the Lady Lions. Hidalgo and
Karlee Wilkerson (12 kills), the preseason All-Southland Conference Lady Lion duo, led a Southeastern attack that hit .233. Gracie Duplechin (29 assists) and Peyton Stokely (20) engineered the offense.
Hannah Brewer led the SLU defense with seven blocks.
Ansley Tullis (16 digs) and Duplechin (11) also were key contributors.
Tulane finished 18-14 a season ago and will be playing its first match under new head coach Jordana Price. Price's squad returns five players from last season's roster.
Prairie View is coming off an 8-26 record last fall. Senior setter Jakarta Hope was named preseason All-SWAC earlier this month.
Idaho State finished 7-21 in 2021. The Bengals are in their first season under head coach Sean Carter.
Southeastern opens the season with nine of its first 10 matches away from home. Next Tuesday, SLU begins its home slate with a 6 p.m. match versus Jackson State in the University Center. The match between the Lady Lions and visiting JSU will be televised on ESPN+.
