AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 4-seeded Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team opens NCAA postseason play at 6 p.m. Friday against host and No. 1-seeded Auburn at Plainsman Park.

Southeastern's first-round Regional contest against the Tigers (37-19) will air on ESPN+ with broadcasters Tom Hart and Kyle Peterson on the call.

Fans in the Hammond area can also listen to SLU game broadcasts online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via the Lions Gameday Experience, Mixlr and MyTuner Radio apps. The MyTuner app is compatible with the Apple CarPlay software available in most late model automobiles. Fans should search for SLU Athletics (Mixlr) or Southeastern Sports Radio Network (MyTuner).

The Lions (30-29) earned their Regional bid as the 2022 Southland Conference Tournament champions.

SLU returns to NCAA postseason play for the sixth time at the Division I level, previously participating in the national tournament during the 1992, 1994, 2014, 2016 and 2017 seasons. SLU earned an at-large bid in its previous two trips.

Freshman left-hander Adam Guth (4-1, 5.13) draws the Lions' starting assignment in the Regional opener opposite Auburn junior right-hander Trace Bright (3-4, 4.63).

Preston Faulkner (.343) teams with Shea Thomas (.294), Rhett Rosevear (.276) and Christian Garcia (.263) to pace Southeastern at the plate. Faulkner leads the squad with 37 extra-base hits, including a Southland-leading 17 home runs and 70 RBIs. Tyler Finke leads the Southland with 28 stolen bases. Both Rosevear (35) and the Lions (124) lead the nation in HBPs.

Faulkner enters the weekend second on Southeastern's career home run (37) and RBI (176) lists. He is also fourth (45) in career HBPs and fifth in doubles (46).

Finke ranks eighth in career stolen bases (56). He currently sits three behind seventh-place Jacob Seward (2014-17).

Reliever Gage Trahan is tied for fourth in program history on the single-season saves (11) list, ranking second in the conference. He joins Chris Franklin (2009), Stefan Lopez (2012), Mason Klotz (2013) and Jared Biddy (2019) as the only Lion pitchers to record double-digit saves in a single season. The total also places him seventh on the program's career saves list.

Auburn has dropped three of its last four games, all against Kentucky.

Sonny Dichiara (.379), Blake Rambusch (.349), Bobby Pierce (.312) and Brooks Carlson (.309) are the Tigers' leading hitters. A transfer from Samford, DiChiara paces the team with 33 extra-base hits – including a team-high 18 home runs – and 48 RBIs. Rambusch leads the team with 16 stolen bases.

A limited number of general admission All-Session booklets are available for purchase from the Auburn ticket office for $75. If any tickets remain on the day of games, they can be purchased as single-session tickets for $15.
