HAMMOND, La. –  The Southeastern Louisiana University football team continues to make strides entering its final week of spring practice.
 
SLU head coach Frank Scelfo has been pleased with the strides his Lions have made in the mental aspects of the game over the past several weeks.
 
"We've been focused on a lot of situational scenarios this past week," Scelfo commented. "We're still evaluating who is going to play the physical style we expect, but what we're starting to see is the work we've been doing in the meeting rooms translate to the field."
 
As the program continues into the final week of spring practice, Scelfo wants his team to continue on its upward trajectory.
 
"We just need to continue to progress," Scelfo said. "We're not putting anything else in new, so we're expecting our guys to continue to do what they've been doing, but do it more efficiently and faster. At this point of spring practice, we should be able to play fast and not having to think as much.
 
"Defensively we're running to the ball better and being more physical," Scelfo added. "Our run game has been much stronger this spring and that all starts with the solid play from our offensive line.
 
Southeastern will practice next Monday and Thursday at 3:30 p.m. before closing out the spring with the 10:30 a.m. Spring Game on Saturday in Strawberry Stadium.
