Final Team/Individual Standings
DIAMONDHEAD, Miss. – Logan Kuehn shot a final round 71 (-1) to finish tied for second while the Southeastern Louisiana University golf team placed fourth in the team standings at the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate Tournament at Diamondhead Country Club.
Â
Kuehn, a senior, had three birdies and two bogeys in his final round Tuesday to finish tied with UIW's Joe Buenfield for runner up.
Â
Out of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Kuehn was solid all weekend finishing the tournament even par. He shot 71 in the opening round and 74 in the second round Tuesday before wrapping up the tournament Tuesday with a 71.
Â
"We set a goal for him to shoot even par for the tournament," said SLU golf head coach
Jake Narro. "Logan is a consistent player that does everything well and keeps it in play off the tee and takes pars when he needs to. He's just a solid all around performer.
Â
Cameron Mobley,
Charlie Forster,
Grant Glorioso and
Michael Landry all posted quality scores to keep the Lions near the top of the final standings. Mobley shot a final round 74, Foster and Glorioso both shot 75 while Landy shot 76 as SLU shot + 7 for the day.
Â
"We were not bad collectively," said Narro. "It was a good way to start the season but we still have a lot to work on as a team to fulfill our potential."
Â
The Lions shot +24 for the 54-hole tournament, good enough for a fourth place finish in the 14-team field.
Â
Troy won the team championship shooting +16 for the tourney while Nicholls' Ryan O'Neil shot -4 to claim the individual championship.
Â
Next up, Southeastern will compete in the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in Houston, Texas hosted by HBU Monday and Tuesday March 6 and 7.
