HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball program heads out on the road for the first time during the 2022 season, traveling to Lafayette, Louisiana for a 6 p.m. Tuesday matchup with UL Lafayette at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
 
Southeastern (2-1) renews its long-standing rivalry with the Ragin' Cajuns (2-1). The two programs did not face each other last season, but the series dates back as far as 1947. UL Lafayette leads the all-time series, 80-74.
 
Tuesday's game can be heard online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via the Lions Gameday Experience, Mixlr and MyTuner Radio apps. Freshman right-hander Lance Lauve is slated to get the start for Southeastern, making his collegiate debut. The Ragin' Cajuns will counter with senior left-hander Brandon Talley (0-1, 11.57).
 
SLU took two-of-three games in its Opening Weekend series against SIUE. Three Lion pitchers combined to spin a 1-0 shutout Friday before Southeastern rallied for a 4-3 walk-off victory Saturday. Sunday, SIUE averted the sweep with a 10-3 win.
 
The Lions' offensive leaders this past weekend included outfielder Tristan Welch (.500, 3-for-6, 1 HR, 1 RBI), first baseman Preston Faulkner (.364, 4-for-11, 1 RBI), catcher Bryce Grizzaffi (.333, 3-for-9, 1 RBI) and designated hitter Evan Keller (.273, 3-for-11, 2 RBI).
 
UL Lafayette is paced by designated hitter Connor Kimple (.500, 5-for-10, 3 HR, 6 RBI), outfielder Tyler Robertson (.375, 3-for-8, 1 RBI, 3 SB) and outfielder Max Marusak (.333, 3-for-9, 4 SB).
 
After dropping their season opener, 7-4, to No. 14-ranked UC Irvine (1-2), the Ragin' Cajuns bounced back to win the final two games against the Anteaters by scores of 7-4 and 5-3.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field this weekend for a three-game series against UAB. Game times return to the standard 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
