Hammond, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team added two new Lady Lions this week for the 2023-24 season.
Arianna Patton, a five-foot one guard out of Meridian, Mississippi has signed with the Lady Lions after transferring from Jones College.
"Arianna (AP) is a player that our program loves to recruit. She's a leader first and foremost and leads the right way. Her hard work ethic will make her a tough opponent at the point guard position for our league. She can score from all three levels and defend at a high rate." Said Southeastern head coach

Patton played a season at Jones College in the 2021-22 season, playing in all 33 games. She averaged 4.7 points in just over 16 minutes of a game. She added 36 assists and 24 steals. She shot 40 percent from the floor. In high school her team was ranked number one in the state her senior year. She averaged 14.2 points, 3.8 steals and 3.7 assists as a high school junior.

The Lady Lions also signed Tasionna McDowell, a six foot two forward from Jones College out of Delhi, Louisiana.
"We are very excited about adding Tasionna (Sassy) to our Lady Lions basketball program. Sassy will bring us experience and energy to our post position. She is a very aggressive post with a high motor able to be a constant threat on offense." Guzzardo said.
McDowell is currently a sophomore at Jones College where she averages 3.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and shot 47 percent from the floor. In high school, she was a four letter winner and served as team captain. She also helped her high school win the 2018 state championship and finished runner-up in 2019. She averaged 18 points, five rebounds, four steals and two blocks per game. She was also First-Team All-District selection by the LSWA and NSWA.
