Southeastern Set to Compete in Southland Conference Tournament

HAMMOND, La.  – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will be the fifth seed in the Southland Conference Tournament, which runs Wednesday through Sunday on the Northwestern State campus.

The Lady Lions (7-6-3, 5-4-3 SLC) will face off against number four seed HCU (6-9-3, 6-5-1 SLC) Wednesday at 1 p.m. The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will face top seed Lamar Friday at 4 p.m. in the first of two semifinal matchups. Sunday's championship match is set for 1 p.m. with the winner earning the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The tournament will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats, provided by host Northwestern State, can be accessed via the women's soccer schedule page on www.LionSports.net.

HCU ended its regular season with a 2-1 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi after scoring a pair of goals in the second half.

SLU ended regular season play with a dropped match against Northwestern State last Friday in Natchitoches, Louisiana 3-0, ending head coach Nathan Gillespie's first regular season as head coach for Southeastern.

Katie Marker leads the Huskies with five goals and one assist. Chloe Bagshaw has 64 saves and a 1.29 goals against average.
