Box Score
HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern's Louisiana University women's soccer team end Southland Conference post season play, falling to HCU 1-0 after two overtimes Wednesday afternoon.
The match would start off with a goal kick by Southeastern's Olivia Griffin and the first match of the SLC tournament was underway. After several throw ins by HCU, Ryan Ford would go in for a shot towards the bottom center of the net that would be saved by Griffin in the first minute of the match.
The next few shots would be off target for both teams, Makenzie Maher having a shot in the 9th minute. The rest of the first half would be controlled defensively by both teams, neither of them letting the other get past midfield.
HCU was able to get to the net in the 54th minute with Evelyn Slaughter and Katie Marker making shots, but both were saved by Griffin
The second half proved to be a back-and forth battle as each team couldn't get the ball into the net. As the clock winded down, the score remained 0-0 until the time ran out.
The first overtime came and went, remaining scoreless and it looked to stay that way throughout the second overtime until Husky Alexa Huerta put the ball in the bottom right of the goal off of an assist by Emily Jaimes in the 103rd minute of the match. This would remain the one and only goal as the second overtime ended and HCU would advance to face Lamar in the semifinals.
Hanna Moffat led Southeastern with four shots while both her and Mya Guillory had a shot on goal each. Griffin would end the match with six saves.
