HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team will close out its three-game road trip with a 3 p.m. Southland Conference road contest at Lamar Saturday afternoon at Provost Umphrey Stadium.
The game between the Lions (5-3, 2-1 SLC) and the host Cardinals (1-7, 1-3 SLC) will be televised on ESPN3 and can also be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
Southeastern scored the final 14 points of the game on the way to a 28-27 win at McNeese last Saturday. The win was SLU's second straight and fifth in its last six games. The Lions have now won the last four meetings with in-state SLC foe McNeese – marking their first four-game win streak in the series since 1951-54.
A win on Saturday at Lamar would clinch a fourth straight winning season for the Lions - the program's longest streak of above .500 campaigns since a six-year run from 1976-81.
Cephus Johnson III threw for 241 yards and threw touchdown passes to
CJ Turner,
Maurice Massey and
Ivan Drobocky in Saturday's win.
Johnson (74-for-115, 850 yards, 9 TD, 3 INT) and
Eli Sawyer (79-for-132, 1,060 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT) have split time under center for a Lion offense that is averaging 32.8 points and 414.0 yards per contest.

Carlos Washington Jr. paces the SLU ground attack with 475 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Lion defense held the Cowboys scoreless for the final 22 minutes in the comeback win in Lake Charles.
Donte' Daniels and
Donniel Ward-Magee each intercepted passes, while Daniels,
Herman Christophe,
Arlen Williams,
Garrett Crawford and
Heath Stephen II all recorded sacks in the victory. Daniels was named SLC and LSWA Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Opponents are averaging 24.1 points and 404.4 yards per contest versus SLU. Daniels leads the team with 59 tackles, followed by Christophe (54),
Anthony Britton Jr. (48),
Jack Henderson (46) and Ward-Magee (42).
Austin Dunlap averaged 47.8 yards per punt and down three of his four punts inside the McNeese 10-yard line on the way to being named SLC and Louisiana Special Teams Player of the Week.
Dunlap is fifth in the FCS with a 44.8 punting average.
Riley Callaghan is 19-for-19 on PAT and 7-for-8 on field goals on the season, while
Darius Lewis paces the team with 13.0 yards per punt return - good for sixth nationally.
Lamar snapped a 15-game losing streak last Saturday, defeating Nicholls, 24-17, for its win of the season.
Lamar is averaging 20.9 points and 351.0 yards per game offensively. Michael Chandler (67-for-157, 960 yards, 5 TD, 4 INT) has handled the majority of the work under center.
Jalen Dummett (23 catches, 267 yards, 2 TD) and Sevonne Rhea (20-409-1 TD) are Chandler's top receivers. Khalan Griffin leads LU with 444 rushing yards and four scores.
The Cardinals are yielding 36.6 points and 447.6 yards per contest. Tyler Jackson leads the team with 73 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss, while Jalen Freeman has a team-high three sacks, while Samuel Scaife IV has two interceptions to his credit.

Southeastern will close out its regular season home schedule next Saturday, hosting Northwestern State at 4 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. The 2022 senior class will be recognized in a Senior Day ceremony approximately 30 minutes before kickoff. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can also be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM).
