Lady Lions Look to Continue Protecting Home Thursday vs. Lamar

SLU Tries to Move to 7-0 in the University Center on the Season

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team looks to improve its record at home to 7-0 on Thursday night in its only match on the week, taking on the Lamar Cardinals at 6:30 P.M. in the University Center.
 
The Lady Lions (14-4, 4-2 SLC) are coming off of a straight sets win over the Nicholls State Colonels at home on Saturday where Addie Vidrine and Ryley Boyne stepped up in the absence of Cicily Hidalgo and Karlee Wilkerson. Vidrine finished the match with eight kills, a block assist, five service aces, and ten digs in the win. Boyne had seven kills and a block assist in the match. Kailin Newsome led the team with nine kills and a block assist while Hannah Brewer added eight kills and two block assists.
 
Newsome and Hidalgo continue to lead the team on the attack, averaging 3.82 and 3.46 kills per set, respectively. SLU has won eight of its last ten matches.
 
Lamar (6-10, 0-5 SLC) comes into Thursday's match trying to end a six-match skid, having last won on September 17th at the Texas-Arlington Invitational in four sets in a non-conference match against New Orleans.
 
In their last match out, the Cardinals dropped a straight sets decision to Incarnate Word at home. Paige Dugan led Lamar with eight kills in Saturday's match while Kaitlyn Gil, Tytiana Johnson, and Wiktoria Warpechowska had six kills apiece in the loss. Johnson added four block assists while Gil and Amber Johnson had two block assists each.
 
Kaitlyn Gil and Paige Dugan lead the Cardinals attack by averaging 3.63 and 3.34 kills per set, respectively.
 
The match between the Lady Lions and Cardinals is set for 6:30 P.M. in the University Center.
