Southeastern Extends White’s Contract, Promotes Ording

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University has extended the contract of head volleyball coach Jeremy White through the 2022-23 season and promoted volleyball assistant Gabby Ording to associate head coach, Southeastern Director of Athletics Jay Artigues announced Tuesday.

The Lady Lions have improved at a meteoric rate under White's leadership.

"We're very fortunate to have Jeremy at Southeastern," Artigues said. "He's one of the most knowledgeable coaches in the country and has completely turned around our program in such a short time. We expect to be picked at the top of the Southland Conference heading into this season and to say that, considering where this program was when Jeremy took over, is remarkable."

One season after producing the third-largest turnaround in Division I, White and Ording helped guide the Lady Lions (11-5, 9-3 Southland) to their first winning season in nearly two decades this spring. Along the way, SLU generated the program's highest seed in the history of the Southland Tournament and White was named the conference's Katrinka Jo Crawford Coach of the Year.

"I would like to thank our administration for showing their confidence in our plan for this program," White said. "My family and I have made Hammond our home, and my staff and I feel we have everything in place from athletes to community and administrative support to bring Southland Championships back to our town."

While lifting the indoor program to new heights, White has simultaneously served as the head of Southeastern's nascent beach volleyball program.

Serving as the recruiting coordinator and top indoor assistant, Ording has been primarily responsible for bringing in the new talent that has fueled the indoor turnaround and helped build the beach program from scratch.

"Gabby has been an absolute blessing to our program," White said. "She commands great respect as both a coach and recruiter, and has been the perfect complement to my coaching style."

SLU will open the 2021 regular season, Aug. 27, against Gonzaga at the StarkVegas Classic in Starkville, Mississippi. The Lady Lions host a trio of schools – Auburn, Cal State Fullerton and Southern – in the Southeastern Showdown, Sept. 3-4, at the University Center to open the home portion of its schedule.
