HAMMOND, La. –  The Southeastern Louisiana University football team was ranked 10^th in the College Football America Yearbook 2021 Preseason FCS Top 30, which was released on Monday.
 
Monday's ranking was the third preseason poll that saw Southeastern ranked nationally. SLU was previously ranked No. 15 in the Athlon Sports and 13^th in the Hero Sports national prognostications.
 
The Lions return 61 letterwinners from the 2020 season which was played during the spring of 2021. SLU finished ranked 20^th in the final Stats Perform poll and 21^st in the final AFCA Coaches poll in the spring.
 
Southeastern is one of two Southland teams ranked in the College Football America Yearbook preseason poll. The Lions feature a league-high 16 preseason All-Southland Conference performers – more than the previous three seasons combined – and were picked atop the league's preseason poll for the first time since the 2014 season.
 
The Lions will open fall practice on Aug. 6 in preparation for the 2021 season, which will see SLU host North Alabama at 6 p.m. on Sept. 4 in Strawberry Stadium in the season opener.
