Guillory, Fish and Gordon Named to Southland All-Academic Team

Lady Lions' Soccer Trio Earns Conference Academic Honors

FRISCO, Texas –  Southeastern Louisiana's Mya Guillory, Dalton Fish and Megan Gordon were selected to the 2020 Southland Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic first team, the league office announced Tuesday.

Guillory, a sophomore, led the Lady Lions (8-3-4) in goals (6), assists (5), shots (47) and points (17). The forward from Prairieville, Louisiana earned first team all-academic honors Tuesday after finishing the year with a 3.726 GPA majoring in Health Science. Guillory, the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Feb. 16, also earned second team All-Southland Conference recognition earlier this month.

Fish, a defender, had a 3.557 GPA majoring in Marketing. The Pflugerville, Texas native started all 15 games for the Lady Lions this year including helping the defense to eight shutouts. The Southland Defensive Player of the Week for March 30, Fish also earned first team All-Southland honors to go along with Tuesday's first team all-academic selection.

Gordon, out of Clophill, England, also started all 15 matches for the Lady Lions playing nearly 1500 minutes this season. The senior earned a 3.892 GPA in Kinesiology as she picked up the Southland All-Academic first team adding to her first team All-Southland selection three weeks ago.  Gordon was also named to the second team Southland All-Academic in 2019.

"It's great for the three of them," said fourth-year SLU soccer head coach Chris McBride. "It means they're not only being recognized as great soccer players, but great students as well. We pride ourselves in the classroom, the community and in competition and this reflects two of those, so I'm really proud of the athletes."

While Fish, Guillory and Gordon were honored Tuesday, all 27 players on the Southland Conference Tournament Champion Lady Lions' roster had a 3.0 or better culminating into a 3.75 GPA.

"Our athletes are fantastic," said McBride. "We never have to worry about the players making their grades. They always take pride in what they do in every aspect of their day and of their life. I'm extremely lucky to coach such a wonderful group of young women."
