HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team opened its final weekend of the 2020-21 season with a 7-0 loss to Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference women's tennis action Friday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The Lions (7-14, 3-7 Southland) were unable to clinch a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament, while the visiting Ladyjacks (9-9, 3-7 Southland) improved their postseason hopes.
 
SFA took the doubles point with win on the No. 2 and 3 courts. The Ladyjacks clinched the match with straight-set victories on the bottom five courts.
 
The lone three-set match was decided on the No. 1 court. Stephen F. Austin's Paula Cerda rallied past SLU's Putri Insani for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8 victory. It was the first loss for Insani in her last nine singles matches.

Southeastern will close out the 2020-21 regular season on Sunday, hosting Sam Houston at 11 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex. Sunday is Senior Day, as Lions Ximena Yanez and Katya Cornejo will play in their final home matches of their careers.
