HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team opened its final weekend of the 2020-21 season with a 7-0 loss to Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference women's tennis action Friday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (7-14, 3-7 Southland) were unable to clinch a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament, while the visiting Ladyjacks (9-9, 3-7 Southland) improved their postseason hopes.
SFA took the doubles point with win on the No. 2 and 3 courts. The Ladyjacks clinched the match with straight-set victories on the bottom five courts.
The lone three-set match was decided on the No. 1 court. Stephen F. Austin's Paula Cerda rallied past SLU's
Putri Insani for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8 victory. It was the first loss for Insani in her last nine singles matches.
