HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team opened a busy final week of the regular season with a 4-0 loss to Southern Miss Monday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
Monday's match was the final nonconference home match of the spring for the Lions (6-13). Southern Miss (8-2) took the doubles point and won three singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory.
 
In doubles play, SLU's 
Putri Insani and 
Ximena Yanez fell to the Golden Eagle pair of Stephanie Booth and Monique Burton, 6-2, on No. 1. On No. 3, USM's Suhana Das and Katia de la Garza earned a 6-1 win over the Lion duo of 
Katya Cornejo and 
Ariadna Perez.
 
USM won the match due to straight-set wins on courts 3,5 and 6. On No. 1, Insani had split sets with de la Garza, while Yanez was up a set on Das on No. 4.

SLU will close out its nonconference schedule on Tuesday, traveling to Jackson State for a noon match in Jackson, Mississippi.
