Final Standings

MCKINNEY, Texas – Williams Meyers finished tied for 13^th while Cameron Mobley finished tied for 17^th for the Southeastern Louisiana golf team in the final individual standings of the 2021 Southland Conference Men's Golf Championship Wednesday at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club-Dye Course.
 
Meyers, a senior playing in his final tournament, finished the tournament +10 after shooting a final round 79. However, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native put himself in contention entering the final round after shooting 76 (+4) in the opening round Monday and a 71 (-1) in the second round Tuesday.
 
"William has been here since I got here," said SLU head golf coach Jake Narro. "I've seen him play a lot of good golf but more importantly I've seen him development as a person and he's going to be successful in whatever he does."
 
Mobley, out of Brandon, Mississippi, had to battle in Wednesday's final round as he shot +3 on the first nine holes including a triple bogey.  However, the sophomore rallied back in the final nine holes with three birdies, five pars and just one bogey to finish tied for 17^th place in the final standings.
 
"What a pleasant surprise Cameron has been," said Narro. "He's been a big factor in why we had a good spring so going forward the sky is the limit with him."
 
SLU finished the tournament in eighth place. Sam Houston claimed its third straight Southland Tournament Championship finishing +9 for 54 holes while Lamar was second at +18. Sam Houston's Paul Chaplet won the individual title finishing -3 while Lamar's Nikolai Shaffrath was runner up at -2.
 
"We had a good spring semester," said Narro. "And were feeling pretty good about ourselves coming into the weekend, but didn't perform the way we were capable of."
