HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team has added Kansas State transfer Antonio Gordon to the 2021-22 roster, third-year SLU head coach
David Kiefer announced Wednesday.
Gordon, a sophomore, played in 21 games during the 2020-21 season with 12 starts. A Lawton, Oklahoma native, Gordon led the team in rebounding during conference play averaging 6.4 per game.
"Antonio's a great pick up for us," said Kiefer. "He fits our style perfectly in that he's long, athletic and plays extremely hard. He's a guy that's had success at a high level in the Big 12 so we're looking for him to come in and have an immediate impact for us. And the fact that he is relentless on the glass makes him that much more valuable to us."
Gordon, a three-star recruit out of Eisenhower High School, scored a career-high 23 points against reigning national champion Baylor on 9-for-9 shooting this past season. He also recorded a double-double against Oklahoma State scoring 15 points and snatching 14 rebounds.
"The Southeastern coaching staff felt like family while they were recruiting me," said Gordon. "And then on the court it just felt like it was a good fit because of their style of play. I'll also be able to grow academically while I'm here so I'm looking forward to it."
