HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana outside hitter Kailin Newome has earned an All-Region honorable mention, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Tuesday.
 
The freshman from Houston, Texas pushed the Lady Lions (11-5, 9-3 Southland) to their first winning season since 2002 and their highest Southland Conference Tournament seed in program history.
 
Newsome was an explosive component of the potent Southeastern Louisiana offense, finishing the regular season as the circuit leader in overall kills (261) while ranking second in kills per set (4.14) and points (280.5). She recorded double-doubles in 11 matches, including 10 consecutive to close out the regular season.
 
This is the third postseason honor for Newsome, having previously been named the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and earning first team All-Conference honors.
