HAMMOND, La.  – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team opens a three-game homestand to wrap up the regular season when they host Houston Baptist Thursday at 7 p.m. and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday at 10 a.m. in Strawberry Stadium.

The Lady Lions (3-2-3) enter Thursday's match with HBU (2-9-1, 2-6-0 Southland) tied for sixth place in the Southland Conference standings with just three matches remaining. Each team is awarded three points for a win, one points for a tie and none for a loss in the standings. SLU has 12 points in Southland play, just behind fifth place Abilene Christian (4-3-1 Southland) with 13.

SLU is led by reigning Southland Conference Players of the Week Nadine Maher and Dalton Fish. Maher, a senior from Dublin, Ireland, helped the Lady Lions to a pair of shutouts last weekend facing 40 shots and saving 12. Fish, a junior from Pflugerville, Texas, played all 220 minutes of both overtime games last week.

Junior Mya Guillory continues to lead the Lady Lions in goals (4), assists (2), points (10), shots (28) and shots on goal (12). The sophomore currently ranks fifth in the league in shots and sixth in shots on goal entering the weekend.

The Huskies come into Thursday's contest four points out of the eighth and final spot of the conference tournament behind SLU's Saturday opponent, the Islanders (4-7-2, 3-4-1 Southland).

HBU is led by senior Noor Abukishk and sophomore Ryan Ford with two goals each on the season. Abukishk, a Cairo, Egypt native, leads the Huskies in shots (24) and shots on goal (15).

Houston Baptist leads the all-time series over the Lady Lions, 7-1-2. However, SLU picked up their first ever win over HBU last year on the road by a 1-0 score when Jamie Raines scored in the 18th minute.

Saturday, SLU will welcome A&M-Corpus Christi to Strawberry Stadium. The Islanders are in a three-way tie for seventh place in the standings with McNeese and Sam Houston, all with 10 points.

The Islanders will look to leading scorer Maggie Murray to pick up the road win. The freshman leads the team with four goals on the season on just 12 shots.

SLU leads the all-time series over the Islanders 5-2-1. A&M-Corpus Christi, however, defeated the Lady Lions by a 2-0 score last year at home but will be looking for their first ever win in Hammond (0-4). Southeastern has outscored the Islanders, 8-2, in the confines of Strawberry Stadium in the previous four meetings.

Following this weekend, the Lady Lions will wrap up the regular season Friday, April 9 at home against Nicholls as the push for the Southland tournament continues.

"I think that our energy levels have carried us in a lot of games this year," said SLU head coach Chris McBride. "Going to overtime in six of our eight games shows the condition of our athletes and compliments their determination and persistent attitude. We will be looking to combine all of our performances this year and hopefully we can finish the regular season strong."

The Lady Lions are 2-1-3 in the aforementioned six overtime matches. Guillory scored a golden goal against Lamar while Raines had one against Stephen F. Austin. The Lady Lions tied three matches with Sam Houston, UIW and Abilene Christian and lost on a golden goal at Northwestern State.

Fans can follow Thursday and Saturday's matches as the Southeastern Sports Network will broadcast both games. Video and stat links will be available at the women's soccer schedule page at LionSports.Net.
