CONWAY, Ark. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team begins the final week of the regular season Wednesday when they travel to face the University of Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. in the Farris Center.

The Lions (7-15, 5-8 Southland) have clinched a spot in the conference tournament after Central Arkansas (4-18, 3-11 Southland) lost Monday to Stephen F. Austin. Southeastern can clinch the sixth seed with wins over both UCA Wednesday and New Orleans (7-14, 6-7 Southland) Saturday night. The fifth seed is still within SLU's grasp with two wins this week and one loss by UIW (8-11, 5-7 Southland).

With the Southland's announcement Monday of expanding to 10 teams in the conference tournament, SLU can earn a first-round bye if they finish fifth or sixth in the final standings.

The Lions enter Wednesday's matchup with three players averaging double figures led by senior Keon Clergeot. The UMass transfer is scoring 15.5 points per game and leads the Southland in free throws made with 129. Junior Gus Okafor is averaging 12.1 points per game and leads the Lions in rebounding (7.0 rpg) and three pointers made (38). Junior Joe Kasperzyk (10.1 ppg) leads Southeastern in steals with 29.

UCA is led by senior Rylan Bergersen averaging 17.1 points per game. The preseason first team All-Southland selection has scored in double figures in 21 of 22 games this year including a season-high 26 points in the Bears' win over Abilene Christian Wednesday night, 84-82.

SLU will be eyeing the season sweep over Central Arkansas after defeating the Bears, 69-57, Jan. 27 at home. SLU used a 12-0 run over the final 3:29 of the game to pick up the victory. Southeastern was led by sophomore Isiah Kirby who scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.

The Lions lead the all-time series over the Bears, 20-9, including winning seven of the last 10. However, Southeastern is just 4-6 in their last 10 games at UCA.

Fans can watch Wednesday's game as UCA will provide a live stream of the game. Video and live stats links are available at the SLU men's basketball schedule page at LionSports.Net.
