CONWAY, Ark. – Southeastern Louisiana's
Putri Insani continued her winning streak at the top of the singles draw, but Central Arkansas was able to defeat the Lions, 6-1, in Southland Conference women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the UCA Tennis Courts.
The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was moved up a day to expected inclement weather. Southeastern (3-9, 1-5 Southland) closed out a four-match road swing with the loss. The host Bears improved to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in league action.
"We displayed a great attitude today and I was really pleased with the effort and aggressiveness we displayed," Southeastern head coach
Jason Hayes said. "Putri executed her game plan to perfection to get a win against a player who has beaten her twice before."
UCA took the doubles point with a pair of 6-2 victories on courts 2 and 3. The Sugar Bears then clinched the match with straight-set wins on courts 2-6 in singles play.
Insani (7-3, 4-1 Southland) extended her singles win streak to four matches, defeating Chunxi Xin, 7-6, 6-4, to help SLU avoid the shutout.
