NATCHITOCHES, La. – Southeastern Louisiana's 
Putri Insani and 
Ariadna Perez each picked up victories in singles play, but Northwestern State was able to hold off the Lions for a 5-2 victory in Southland Conference women's tennis action Friday afternoon at Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
 
SLU fell to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in Southland Conference play with Friday's loss. Northwestern State (3-3, 2-3 Southland) won the doubles point and earned four singles wins to earn the victory.
 
"We started off slow in doubles, but I really was pleased with how we played in singles play," Southeastern head coach 
Jason Hayes said. "We played our best singles of the spring and we can build on that moving forward."
 
NSU took the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 2. The Lady Demons clinched the victory with straight-set singles wins on Nos. 2,3,4 and 5.
 
At the top of the singles draw, Insani (6-3, 3-1 Southland) won her third straight singles match, rallying from a set down for a 6-7, 6-2, 10-7 win over Mariella Minetti. On No. 6, Perez (2-5, 1-3 Southland) earned her first Southland singles win by outlasting Patrycja Polanska, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6.
