HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will look to extend its five-game winning streak on Saturday, traveling to Northwestern State for a 1 p.m. Southland Conference contest at Prather Coliseum.
The game between the Lady Lions (9-6, 8-4 Southland) and the host Lady Demons (0-17, 0-12 Southland) will be streamed live on

With a win on Saturday, Southeastern will clinch a spot in next month's Southland Conference Tournament, scheduled for March 11-14 at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas. SLU can also secure its first overall winning record since the 2008-09 season with a victory in Natchitoches. The Lady Lions have already ensured their first winning conference record since the aforementioned 2008-09 campaign.
On Wednesday, SLU outscored McNeese, 40-16, in the second half on the way to a 65-49 victory.
Breonca Ducksworth and
Chrissy Brown shared game-high honors with 14 points in the win, while
Natalie Kelly posted her first double-double as a Lady Lion with 10 points and 16 rebounds to go with three blocked shots.
Morgan Carrier leads the Lady Lions with 12.9 points.
Hailey Giaratano (11.5 ppg),
Caitlyn Williams (9.3 ppg),
Cierria Cunningham (9.1 ppg) and Ducksworth (8.6 ppg) round out the top five scorers for SLU. Ducksworth also leads the team with 3.3 assists per outing, followed by Cunningham (2.8 apg).
Southeastern is shooting 36.8 percent from behind the arc behind the trio of Carrier (45.6), Giaratano (39.7) and
Daija Harvey (33.3). Carrier ranks sixth in school history with 126 career three-point field goals, while her 35.5 percent career success rate from behind the arc is the 10
th-best in school history.
On the glass, Kelly (8.6 rpg), Williams (7.3 rpg) and Brown (5.4 rpg) are the most productive performers for the Lady Lions. Williams is 10
th in school history with 614 career rebounds.
After holding consecutive opponents to under 50 points, SLU is allowing 63.8 points and forcing 18.1 turnovers per game. Ducksworth leads the Lady Lions with 1.8 steals per game, while Kelly has blocked a team-high 1.3 shots per contest.
Northwestern State will be looking for its first victory of the 2020-21 season on Saturday. Annette Dussette leads the Lady Demons with 9.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
NSU leads the all-time series between the longtime rivals, 48-24, though Southeastern has won the last three meetings. Back on Jan. 23, Cunningham poured in a career-high 25 points to lead SLU to an 87-52 victory in Hammond.
